EcoTrail AlUla is a destination-running event with a focus on environment, nature and the thrill of competing in an
ancient untouched land. The EcoTrail was founded on the ethos of eco-responsibility, being close to nature and
accessible to all, highlighting the cultural and natural character of AlUla, and respecting nature. Trail-running is a
growing sport globally and AlUla is one of the world’s most exciting destinations for trail-running experiences.
The experience consists of different levels of trails, suitable for all ages and different fitness categories, including
80km, 50km, 25km. A new experience for 2022 is the “Run for You” 10km (Trail running and hiking) as well as the
new Sunset Race, and a Kids Race.
Under the banner of AlUla Moments, the new winter festival in AlUla, four key festivals were introduced to visitors
offering heritage, culture, arts, sports, adventure and unique culinary experiences.. AlUla EcoTrail is part of the AlUla
Wellness festival which will run from 17th to 27th of March 2022.
As a burgeoning wellness and sports destination, AlUla has recently hosted the 2nd edition of the Saudi Tour event in
collaboration with the Ministry of Sport and Saudi Cycling Federation. Sixteen teams from around the globe joined the
competition between 1st to 5th of February.
Also, as part of the recent Winter at Tantora festival, AlUla hosted two unique equestrian sporting events in AlUla, The
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2022, an event that showed the participation of over 200 riders
from more than 30 countries, and the unique event of Richard Mille AlUla Desert Polo 2022, the first organised desert
polo event in the world.
As a destination with unique geology consisting of mountains, canyons and many types of geography, AlUla is also an
adventure travellers’ dream. New adrenaline experiences include Abseiling, Adventure trail hiking, dune buggy tours,
canyon hike experience, cycling trails, s, rock climbing, the gravity cart experience and Via Ferrata suspension bridge
with giant Hammock.
